Green B.E.A.N. Delivery (Biodynamic, Education, Agriculture, Nutrition) is dedicated to the success and sustainability of non-profits in our community. We donate to several non-profit organizations through food donations and contributions to fund-raising events. Our champion cause is hunger relief, but we also participate in helping organizations that champion health and wellness in our communities. When you support Green B.E.A.N. Delivery you also support our non-profit partners.
Childhood Food Solutions
The mission of Childhood Food Solutions is to develop solutions for childhood food insecurity that can be applied in a community, tested for effectiveness and duplicated in other communities.
Childhood Food Solutions (CFS) was founded in July of 2007 by seven individuals in Cincinnati who were convinced of the overwhelming need to feed hungry children and convicted by a desire to do something about hunger in their community. They focused on zip code 45225, an area of high poverty, high crime and hungry, food-insecure children.
CFS began its work at Ethel M. Taylor Academy in September of 2007, in partnership with Pipkins Fruit & Vegetable Market. “Weekend Sacks” of food (about 12 ounces of food per child) are distributed every Friday to about 430 children. On December 21, 2007, CFS and Pipkins also provided “Winter Break Sacks” containing over 5 pounds of food to these 430 children to help them make it until December 31 when the government checks arrived. The results are in, and the schools that CFS is working with are seeing higher test scores across the board. Proper nutrition for young students is a key factor in how they perform with their studies, and CFS believes it is also the direct line to solving a very real problem: ”To achieve food security,” their web site states, “children must always know where food is available whenever their family might have none.”
Green B.E.A.N. Delivery first teamed up with executive director Tony Fairhead and CFS in December of 2009, providing him with nearly 3,500 pounds of fresh fruit to be placed in each child’s sack over that winter break. Since then GBD has been Childhood Food Solutions’ biggest advocate, providing warehousing and fruit whenever the need arose, working directly with Tony to help develop his non-profit, and increasing our capability to participate and support this very important cause.

The Freestore Foodbank
The Freestore Foodbank is the largest emergency food provider in the Tri-State area, serving a 20-county region in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. They solicit, collect, purchase and store food from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies and distribute it to more than 325 non-profit member agencies that provide free food to those in need.
Green B.E.A.N. Delivery made its first delivery to the Cincinnati communities in the form of a one-ton, fresh-produce donation to the Freestore Foodbank, and we have been developing a strong partnership ever since. In fact, over the course of our first 18 months in business we have been able to donate more than 6,000 pounds of produce and dry goods to our friends at the Freestore Foodbank and their sister program Cincinnati Cooks. Our members are able to become directly involved in this effort by participating in our Constant Canned Food Drive.
The Constant Canned Food Drive – Green B.E.A.N. Delivery’s constant canned food drive helps our communities’ food banks with the issue of distribution. Simply leave any non-perishable food item in your empty green bin, and when we stop by with your next order, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery will take your donation to the Freestore Foodbank for you. No donation is too small.
Fresh Produce Donations – Green B.E.A.N. Delivery believes that food banks should be supplied with farm fresh fruits and vegetables. During its first three years of business, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery donated over 100,000 pounds of fresh produce to local food banks!
